Translator's Preface احلمد هلل رب العاملني و صلى اهلل و سلم على نبينا حممد و على آله و صحبه و أتباعه بإحسان إىل يوم الدين. أما بعد : All praise is due to Allaah, and may the peace and blessings of Allaah be upon our prophet Muhammad, his household, his companions and those that follow them in goodness until the day of recompense. To proceed Before you, is a translation of a beneficial treatise entitled 'The religion of Islaam is the religion of happiness'. This treatise was written by our noble Shaykh; Muhammad bin Hizaam Al-Ba'daanee (1) (May Allaah preserve him). The Shaykh (May Allaah preserve him) wrote this treatise whilst travelling to Malaysia calling people to the religion of Allaah in the year in 2009. Being amazed and astonished with the condition of the disbelievers there, the Shaykh (May Allaah preserve him) saw that it was upon him to clarify to the disbelievers the reality of Islaam. After seeing the benefit and great need for this book, the Shaykh (May Allaah preserve him) gave me permission to translate his book for which I would like to thank him for. I ask Allaah the Mighty and Majestic, that He preserves and blesses our Shaykh, and that he makes this translation sincerely for his sake, indeed he is able to do all things. Abu Abdillah Mustafa bin Yusuf As Somaalee: 29 th Safar 1434 11 th January 2013. (1) Ash Shaykh Muhammad bin Hizaam, is a well-known teacher in Daarul Hadeeth in Dammaaj (May Allaah protect it). The Shaykh is known for constructing beneficial lessons, and has taught in many different fields of Islamic sciences from: Tawheed and Aqeedah, Fiqh and its Usool, Hadeeth and other sciences. The Shaykh has beneficial works on the books of the Imaams of the past, most notably his explanation of 'buloogh al Maraam' called 'fathul 'alaam. 1

Many praise and thanks are due to Allaah, I magnify him with all magnificence, and glory be to Allaah in the morning and afternoon. I testify that none has the right to be worshipped except Allaah alone, having no partners. And I testify that Muhammad is his slave and messenger, may the peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him and his household and praise with much recognition. To proceed From the bounties of Allaah the mighty and majestic upon the slave is that he makes him a caller to His true religion. Allaah mighty and majestic said: ]فصلت: ٣٣ ] And who is better in speech than he who says my lord is Allaah (believes in His onesness) and then stands firm (acts upon his orders) and invites to Allaah and does righteous deeds and says "I am one of the Muslims". (Fussilat:41:33). And it has been recorded in the Saheeh of Imaam Muslim on the authority of Abu Hurairah (may Allaah be pleased with him) who said: The messenger of Allaah (may the peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) said: ن أ ج ور هم ش ي ئ ا»»م ن د ع ا إ ل ه د ى ك ان ل ه م ث ل أ ج ور م ن ت ب ع ه ل ي ن ق ص ذ ل ك م Whoever calls to guidance will have the reward similar to those who follow him, without their reward diminishing in any way It has also been reported in the two saheehs on the authority of Sahl bin Sa'ad As-Saa'idee (may Allaah be pleased with him) that the messenger of Allaah (may the peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) said: ن ح ر الن ع م» «ل ن ي د ي اهلل ب ك ر ج ل و اح د ا خ ي ل ك م 2

If Allaah guides even one person through you, that is better for you than (possessing a great number of) red camels From the virtues of Allaah upon me, and all praise and gratitude belong to him alone, the almighty and exalted is that He made it easy for me to visit Malaysia to invite to the way of Allaah, the almighty, the exalted. We reached there on Saturday 25 th Rajab 1430H. I was astonished with what I saw from the condition of the disbelievers in that country and their actions. They have multiplied in that country to the extent that they have reached 40% of the country's population. I was also amazed with the condition of the Muslims and what happened to them from ignorance and misguidance. I therefore saw it to be obligatory upon me that I write this treatise regarding the call to Islaam, holding onto it and warning from disbelief and the disbelievers so that I may clear myself from anything that I may be held responsible for and to establish the proof upon the disbelievers and reminding the Muslims of their truthful religion and urging them to be firm upon it. For that reason I wrote this treatise which I entitled 'The religion of Islaam is the religion of happiness' during my stay in Malaysia. I ask Allaah the mighty and majestic that He benefits me with it (this treatise) in the worldly life and the hereafter and that He makes it sincerely for his face. And I ask Allaah that He makes it of benefit to his slaves, verily He is capable to do all things. How perfect are you O Allaah, and I praise you, I bear witness that none has the right to be worshipped except you. I seek your forgiveness and turn to you in remembrance. Written by: Abu 'Abdillah Muhammad bin Alee bin Hizaam Al Yamaanee 3

دين اإلسالم هو دين السعادة The religion of Islaam is the religion of Happiness احلمد هلل و الصالة والسالم على رسول اهلل و على آله و صحبه و من وااله. All praise and thanks are due to Allaah and may the peace and blessings of Allaah be upon the messenger of Allaah, his household, companions and whoever follows him. Indeed Allaah the mighty and majestic sent his prophet Muhammad (may the peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) with Islaam, guidance, light and mercy. Allaah the most high said: ٺ ٺ ٺ ٺ ٿ ٿ ٿ ٿ ٹ ٹ ٹ ٹ ڤ ڤ ڤ ڤ ڦ ڦ ڦ ڦ ڄ ]اجلمعة: ٢ ] He it is Who sent among the unlettered ones a Messenger (Muhammad sallallaahu 'alayhi wa sallam) from among themselves, reciting to them His Verses, purifying them (from the filth of disbelief and polytheism), and teaching them the Book (this Quran, Islamic laws and Islamic jurisprudence) and Al-Hikmah (As-Sunnah: legal ways, orders, acts of worship, etc. of Prophet Muhammad sallallaahu 'alayhi wa sallam). And verily, they had been before in mainfest error. [Al-Jumu'ah:62:2] And He the most high said: ڦ ڦ ڦ ڄ ڄ ڄ ڄ ڃ ڃ ڃ ڃ چ چ ]آل عمران: ] ٥٨ And whoever seeks a religion other than Islam, it will never be accepted of him, and in the Hereafter he will be one of the losers. ['Aali 'Imraan:85] And He the mighty and majestic said: ک ک گ گ گ [األنبياء : ٧٠١ [ And We have sent you (O Muhammad sallallaahu 'alayhi wa sallam) not but as a mercy for the 'Alamin (mankind, jinns and all that exists). [Al-'Anbiya:21:107] 4

Islaam is the religion that Allaah has obligated upon His slaves and is pleased with it for them. Allaah is not pleased with a religion other than it. Allaah the mighty and majestic said: چ چ چ ڇ ڇ ڇ ڇ ڍ ڍ ڌ ڌ [املائدة : ٣ [ This day, I have perfected your religion for you, completed My Favour upon you, and have chosen for you Islaam as your religion. [Al-Maa'idah:5:3] Whoever holds onto the religion of Islaam will find an opening in his breast and peace in his heart and will live in great happiness. Allaah the most high said: ٱ ٻ ٻ ٻ ٻ پ پ پپ ڀ ڀ ڀ ڀ ٺ ٺ ٺ ٺ ٿ ٿ ٿ ٿ ]األنعام: ٧٢٨ ] And whomsoever Allah wills to guide, He opens his breast to Islam, and whomsoever He wills to send astray, He makes his breast closed and constricted, as if he is climbing up to the sky. [Al-An'aam:6:125] And Allaah the mighty and majestic said: ي ا ي ە ي ە ي و ي و ي ۇ ي ۇ *ي ۆ ي ۈ ي ۈ ي ې ي ې ي ې ي ى ي ى ي ى ی ی ی *ي ج ي ح ي م ي ى ي ي بج بح بخ * ٱ ٻ ٻ ٻ ٻپ پ پ پ ] ٧٢١ ]طه: ٧٢٣ - Then whoever follows My Guidance shall neither go astray, nor fall into distress and misery. "But whosoever turns away from My Reminder (i.e. neither believes in this Quran nor acts on its orders, etc.) verily, for him is a life of hardship, and We shall raise him up blind on the Day of Resurrection". He will say:"o my Lord! Why have you raised me up blind, while I had sight (before). (Allah) will say: "Like this, Our Ayat (proofs, evidences, verses, lessons, signs, revelations, etc.) came unto you, but you disregarded them (i.e. you left them, did not think deeply in them, and you turned away from them), and so this Day, you will be neglected (in the Hell-fire, away from Allah's Mercy)." [Ta-ha:20:123-126] And Allaah the mighty and majestic also said: 5

[An-Nahl:16:97] Whoever holds onto the religion of Islaam is worthy of entering jannah (paradise) by the mercy of Allaah. Allaah the most high said: ڱ ڱ ں ں ڻ ڻ ڻ *ە ە ہ ہ ہ ہ ھ ھ *ھ ے ے ے ے *ڭ ڭ ڭ ۇ ۇ *ۆ ۈ ۈ ۇٴ ۋ ۋۅ ۅ ۉ ۉ ې ې ېې ى ى ي ا ]الزخرف: ١٧-١١ ] Friends on that Day will be foes one to another except Al-Muttaqun (the pious). (It will be said to the true believers of Islamic Monotheism): My worshippers! No fear shall be on you this Day, nor shall you grieve, (You) who believed in Our Ayat (proofs, verses, lessons, signs, revelations, etc.) and were Muslims (i.e. who submit totally to Allah's Will, and believe in the Oneness of Allah - Islamic Monotheism). Enter Paradise, you and your wives, in happiness. Trays of gold and cups will be passed round them, (there will be) therein all that the one's inner-selves could desire, all that the eyes could delight in, and you will abide therein forever. [Az-Zukhruf:43:67-71] Whoever turns away from the religion of Islaam and dies upon kufr (disbelief) is punished in his grave. That person is also punished in the hell-fire eternally therein. Allaah the mighty and majestic said: ڭ ڭ ڭ ۇ ۇ ۆ ۆ ۈ ۈ ۇٴ ۋ ۋۅ ۅ ۉ ۉ ې ې ې ې ى ى ي ا ي ا ي ە ي ە ي و ي و ]األنعام: ٧٣ ] 6

"And if you could but see when the Zalimun (polytheists and wrong-doers, etc.) are in the agonies of death, while the angels are stretching forth their hands (saying): "Deliver your souls! This day you shall be recompensed with the torment of degradation because of what you used to utter against Allah other than the truth. And you used to reject His Ayat (proofs, evidences, verses, lessons, signs, revelations, etc.) with disrespect!" [Al-An'aam:6:93] And Allaah the most high said: ڇ ڇ ڇ ڍ ڍ ڌ ڌ ]التوبة: ٧٠٧ ] And among the bedouins round about you, some are hypocrites, and so are some among the people of Al-Madinah, they exaggerate and persist in hypocrisy, you (O Muhammad sallallaahu 'alayhi wa sallam) know them not, We know them. We shall punish them twice, and thereafter they shall be brought back to a great (horrible) torment. [At-Tawbah:9:101] We shall punish him twice : Once in this worldly life by way of calamities and another time in the grave. Then they shall be brought back and thrown in the hell-fire. We seek refuge in Allaah from it. And Allaah the mighty and majestic said: ں ں ڻ ڻ ڻڻ ە ە ہ ہ ہ ہ ھ ھ ] ٦١ ]غافر: The Fire; they are exposed to it, morning and afternoon, and on the Day when the Hour will be established (it will be said to the angels): "Cause Fir'aun's (Pharaoh) people to enter the severest torment!" [Ghaafir:40:46] And He the all-mighty and the majestic said: ٱ ٻ ٻ ٻ ٻ پ *پ پ ڀ ڀ ڀ ڀ *ٺ ٺ ٺ ٿ ٿ ٿ *ٹ ٹ ٹ ٹ ڤڤ ڤ ڤ ڦ *ڦ ڦ ڄ ڄ ڄ ڄ ڃ ١٦-١٥ ] ]الزخرف: 7

Verily, the Mujrimun (criminals, sinners, disbelievers, etc.) will be in the torment of Hell to abide therein forever. (The torment) will not be lightened for them, and they will be plunged into destruction with deep regrets, sorrows and in despair therein. We wronged them not, but they were the Zalimun (polytheists, wrong-doers, etc.). And they will cry: "O Malik (Keeper of Hell)! Let your Lord make an end of us." He will say: "Verily you shall abide forever." Indeed We have brought the truth (Muhammad SAW with the Quran), to you, but most of you have a hatred for the truth. [Az-Zukhruf:43:74-78] And He the most high said: ہ ہ ہ ہ ھ ھ ھ ھ ے ے ے ے ڭ ڭڭ ڭ ۇ ۇ ۆ*ۈ ۈ ۇٴ ۋ ۋ ۅ ۅ ۉ ۉ ې ېې ې ى ى ي ا ي ا ي ە ي ە ي و ي وي ۇ ي ۇ ي ۆ ي ۆ ي ۈ ي ۈ ]فاطر: ٣١-٣١ [ But those who disbelieve, (in the Oneness of Allah - Islamic Monotheism) for them will be the Fire of Hell. Neither it will have a complete killing effect on them so that they die, nor shall its torment be lightened for them. Thus do We requite every disbeliever! Therein they will cry: "Our Lord! Bring us out, we shall do righteous good deeds, not (the evil deeds) that we used to do." (Allah will reply): "Did We not give you lives long enough, so that whosoever would receive admonition, - could receive it? And the warner came to you. So taste you (the evil of your deeds). For the Zalimun (polytheists and wrongdoers, etc.) there is no helper." [Faatir:35:36-37] Islaam enjoins upon every Muslim to give everybody his due right. It is obligatory upon every Muslim to fulfil the right of Allaah and that is worshipping Allaah alone and not associating partners with him. Therefore an act of worship is not to be diverted to other than Allaah. So do not worship the sun, the moon, the stars, fire, trees, rocks, cows, idols, graves, the righteous or prophets. All acts of worship such as: prostrating, bowing, glorification, submission, love, fear, vows, slaughtering, supplication, seeking refuge, seeking aid and other types of worship should be offered to Allaah alone. Allaah the most high said: ڭ ڭ ڭ ڭ ۇ ۇ ۆ ۆ ۈ*ۇٴ ۋ ۋۅ ۅ ۉ ۉ ې ې [األنعام: ٧١٢-٧١٣] 8

Say (O Muhammad sallallaahu 'alayhi wa sallam): "Verily, my Salat (prayer), my sacrifice, my living, and my dying are for Allah, the Lord of the 'Alamin (mankind, jinns and all that exists). "He has no partner. And of this I have been commanded, and I am the first of the Muslims." [Al-An'aam:6:162-163]. The religion of Islaam enjoins upon every Muslim that he fulfils the rights of His messenger Muhammad sallallaahu 'alayhi wa sallam and that is to follow his guidance (that which he came with) and to believe in his message and his prophet-hood. Allaah the almighty said: ڦ ڦ ڦ ڦ ڄ ڄ ڄ ڄ ڃ ڃ ڃڃ چ چ چ ]آل عمران: ] ٣٧ Say (O Muhammad sallallaahu 'alayhi wa sallam to mankind): "If you (really) love Allah then follow me (i.e. accept Islamic Monotheism, follow the Quran and the Sunnah), Allah will love you and forgive you of your sins. And Allah is Oft-Forgiving, Most Merciful." [Aali-'Imraan:3:31] And Allaah the most high said: ڦ ڦ ڦ ڦ ڄ ڄ ڄ ڄ ڃ ڃ ڃ ڃ چ چ چ چ ڇ ڇڇ ڇ ڍ ] ٧٧٨ ]النساء: And whoever contradicts and opposes the Messenger (Muhammad sallallaahu 'alayhi wa sallam to mankind) after the right path has been shown clearly to him, and follows other than the believers' way. We shall keep him in the path he has chosen, and burn him in Hell - what an evil destination. [An- Nisaa:4:115] The religion of Islaam enjoins upon the Muslim that he fulfils the rights of his parents by obeying them, treating them with kindness and showing them mercy. Allaah the most high said in his noble book. ڳ ڳ ڳ ڱ ڱ ڱ ڱ ںں ڻ ڻ ڻ ڻ ە ە ہ ہ ہ ہ ھ ھ ھ ھ ے ے ے *ڭ ڭ ڭ ڭ ۇ ۇ ۆ ۆ ۈ ۈ ۇٴ ۋ ٢٣-٢٦ ] ]اإلسراء: 9

And your Lord has decreed that you worship none but Him. And that you be dutiful to your parents. If one of them or both of them attain old age in your life, say not to them a word of disrespect, nor shout at them but address them in terms of honour. And lower unto them the wing of submission and humility through mercy, and say: "My Lord! Bestow on them Your Mercy as they did bring me up when I was small." [Al-Israa':17:23-24] The religion of Islaam enjoins upon the Muslim that he obeys the one in command of the affairs (leaders) in the obedience of Allaah the mighty and the majestic, with the saying of the messenger sallallaahu 'alayhi wa sallam: ي ؤ م ر ب م ع صي ة ف إ ن»ع ل ال م ر ء ال م س ل م الس م ع و الط اع ة ف ي م أ ح ب و ك ر ه م ا ل أ م ر ب م ع ص ي ة ف ل س م ع و ل ط اع ة» ]م ت ف ق ع ل ي ه ع ن اب ن ع م ر رضي اهلل عنهما ] It is obligatory upon a Muslim that he should listen (to the ruler appointed over him) and obey him whether he likes it or not, except that he is ordered to do a sinful thing. If he is ordered to do a sinful act, a Muslim should neither listen to him nor should he obey his orders. (Agreed upon, on the authority of Ibn 'Umar may Allaah be pleased with them). The religion of Islaam enjoins upon the ones in command of the affairs (leaders) that they be lenient towards the Muslims and that they establish the religion of Islaam in the land and that they judge by the book (Qur'aan) and Sunnah. The religion of Islaam also enjoins upon the commanders of the affairs that they establish punishment laws and that they return the rights to its people and that they aid the weak and the oppressed. The messenger sallallaahu 'alayhi wa sallam said. O Allaah, who (happens to) acquire some kind of control over the affairs of my people and is hard upon them be hard upon him, and who (happens to) acquire some kind of control over the affairs of my people and is kind to them be kind to him. Truly, Allah is All-Strong, All-Mighty. Those (Muslim rulers) who, if We give them power in the land, (they) order for Iqamat-as-Salat. [i.e. to perform the five compulsory congregational Salat (prayers) (the males in mosques)], to pay the Zakat and they enjoin Al-Ma'ruf (i.e. Islamic Monotheism and all that Islam orders one to do), and forbid Al-Munkar (i.e. disbelief, polytheism and all that Islam has forbidden) [i.e. they make the Quran as the law of their country in all the spheres of life]. And with Allah rests the end of (all) matters (of creatures). The religion of Islaam obligates upon the Muslim that he avoids harming animals. It is reported in the two saheehs (authentic books, Al-Bukhaari and Muslim) on the authority of 'Abdullaah bin 'Umar may Allaah be pleased with him who said, the messenger of Allaah sallallaahu 'alayhi wa sallam said: ع ذ ب ت ام ر أ ة ف ه ن ر ة ح ب س ت ه ا ل ه ي أ ط ع م ت ه ا و س ق ت ه ا و ل ه ي ت ر ك ت ه ا ت أ ك ل م خ ش اش ا ل ر ض ح ت ى م ات ت ج و ع ا«A woman was punished in Hell because of a cat which she had confined until it died. [An-Nur:24:2] The religion of Islaam encourages feeding the needy, the orphans and widows. It is desirable in Islaam to show them kindness towards them. The religion of Islaam gives great importance to the sanctity of a Muslim's wealth, blood, and honour. The prophet sallallaahu 'alayhi wa sallam said: «إ ن د م اء ك م و أ م و ال ك م و أ ع ر اض ك م ع ل ي ك م ح ر ام ك ح ر م ة ي و م ك م ه ذ ا ف ش ه ر ك م ه ذ ا ف ب ل د ك م ه ذ ا«]م ت ف ق ع ل ي ه ع ن أ ب ب ك ر ة رضي اهلل عنه ] Indeed your blood, your properties and your honours are as sacred as the sanctity of this day of yours in this month of yours, in this town of yours. The religion of Islaam has elevated the status of women and has honoured them during their childhood, youth and childhood. During their childhood, it is obligatory upon her parents to be responsible for her. And during her youth it is obligatory upon her husband that he lives honourably with her, protects her, feeds her, and clothes her in a reasonable manner. During her old age, it is obligatory upon her children to be responsible for her. The religion of Islaam encourages the Muslim to eat from that which he has worked for and has prohibited begging. It is narrated in the saheeh of Imaam Al-Bukaari on the authority of Al-Miqdaam Ibn Ma'di karb (may Allaah be pleased with him) that the prophet sallallaahu 'alayhi wa sallam said: «م ا أ ك ل أ ح د ط ع ام ا خ ي ا م ن أ ن ي أ ك ل م ن ع م ل» ن ع م ل ي د ه م و إ ن ن ب ي اهلل د او د ك ان ي أ ك ل ي د ه 16

[Al-Mutaffifeen:83:1-3] The religion of Islaam forbids lying, treachery, and betrayal for indeed the prophet sallallaahu 'alayhi wa sallam said: «آي ة ال م ن اف ق ث ل ث : إ ذ ا ح د ث ك ذ ب و إ ذ ا و ع د أ خ ل ف و إ ذ ا اؤ ت ن خ ا ن«The signs of a hypocrite are three: whenever he speaks, he lies; whenever he promises, he breaks his promise; and whenever he is trusted, he betrays his trust. 17

The religion of Islaam prohibited oppression, as occurs in the two saheehs on the authority of Ibn 'Umar [may Allaah be pleased with them] that the prophet sallallaahu 'alayhi wa sallam said:» ت ق وا الظ ل م ف إ ن الظ ل م ظ ل م ت ي و م ال ق ي ام ة»ا Fear oppression, for verily oppression is darkness on the day of judgement. [Ta-ha:20:132] The religion of Islaam enjoins upon the Muslim that he loves for his brother [in faith] that which he loves for himself. Just as he likes goodness and happiness for himself in this world and the next, it is obligatory upon him that he likes that for other than himself. He sallallaahu 'alayhi wa sallam said:» ب ه ل ن ف س ه ل خ ي ه م ا ي ب «ل ي ؤ م ن أ ح د ك م ح ت ى ي ]م ت ف ق ع ل ي ه ع ن أ ن س رضي اهلل عنه[ None of you [truely] believes until he wishes for his brother what he wishes for himself. [Agreed upon by Al-Bukhaari and Muslim on the authority of Anas may Allah be pleased with him]. The religion of Islaam enjoins upon the Muslims to unite upon the kitaab [Qur'aan] and sunnah and nullifies division and differing. He the most high said: ڌ ڎ ڎ ڈ ڈ ژ ]األعراف: ٧٨١[ He allows them as lawful At-Taiyibat [(i.e. all good and lawful) as regards things, deeds, beliefs, persons, foods, etc.], and prohibits them as unlawful Al- Khaba'ith (i.e. all evil and unlawful as regards things, deeds, beliefs, persons, foods, etc.). [Al-'Araaf:7:157] And the prophet sallallaahu 'alayhi wa sallam said: ضار» «ل ض ر و ل There should be neither harming nor reciprocating harm. The religion of Islaam which is the religion of truth has many specific and distinguishing characteristics that cannot be found in any other religion. It is therefore obligatory upon all mankind to act upon this great religion, to hold onto Islaam and to leave off all the other religions which are contrary to this monotheistic religion. Allaah the most high said: ى ي ا ي ا ي ە ي ە ي و ي و ي ۇ ي ۇ ي ۆ ي ۆ ي ۈ ي ۈ ي ې ]آل عمران: ٥٣[ Do they seek other than the religion of Allah (the true Islamic Monotheism worshipping none but Allah Alone), while to Him submitted all creatures in the heavens and the earth, willingly or unwillingly. [Aali 'Imraan:3:85] Whoever wants to act upon the religion of Islaam it is obligatory upon him that he comes with the pillars of Islaam and Eemaan [faith]. As for the pillars of Islaam, they are as follows: The first pillar: To testify that none has the right to be worshipped except Allaah and that Muhammad is his messenger. The meaning of that is that it is obligatory to state the declaration of faith and that the one who does so confirms that truthfully. And it is obligatory upon him to learn the meaning of the declaration of faith which is that none has the right to be worshipped except Allaah and everything that is worshipped besides him is worshipped upon falsehood. Allaah the most high said: ہ ہ ھ ھ ھ ھ ے ے ے ے ڭ ڭ ڭ ڭ ۇ ۇ ۆ ]احلج: ١٢/ لقمان: ٣٠ [ That is because Allah He is the Truth (the only True God of all that exists, Who has no partners or rivals with Him), and what they (the polytheists) invoke besides Him, it is Batil (falsehood) And verily, Allah He is the Most High, the Most Great. [Al-Hajj:22:62 and Luqmaan:31:30] The meaning of Muhammad is the messenger of Allaah, is to recognise and believe that our prophet Muhammad sallallaahu 'alayhi wa sallam is a messenger in truth. Allaah sent him to this nation so that he calls them to the worship of Allaah alone, and that he guides them to all that in which there is good and he warns them from all evil. The messenger of Allaah sallallaahu 'alayhi wa sallam, did not die until he conveyed the message, and rendered back the trusts to those to whom they were due and he advised 21

this nation, may the peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him. Allaah the most high said: چ چ چ ڇ ڇ ڇ ڇ ڍ ڍ ڌ ڌ ]املائدة: ٣[ This day, I have perfected your religion for you, completed My Favour upon you, and have chosen for you Islam as your religion. [Al-Maa'idah:5:3] The second pillar: Establishing the 5 daily prayers: Allaah, has obligated upon every Muslim 5 prayers a day. They are Fajr, Dhuhur, 'Asar, Maghrib and 'Ishaa. The manner in which these prayers are performed are known to the Muslims and to Allaah belongs all praise and thanks. And it is not permissible for a Muslim to leave of the prayers. The prophet sallallaahu 'alayhi wa sallam said: «ب ي الر ج ل و ال ك ف ر ت ر ك الص ل ة«]ر و اه م س ل م ع ن ج اب ر رضي اهلل عنه ] Between a man and disbelief is leaving off the prayer. [reported by Muslim on the authority of Jaabir, may Allaah be pleased with him]. The third pillar: Giving zakaah (alms): The meaning of this is that Allaah has obligated upon the rich to give out in charity from their wealth. Therefore it is obligatory upon them that they give out money in charity to the poor yearly. It is also obligatory upon them to give out in charity from that which they grow from crops during harvest. For details regarding these issues the Muslim scholars can be asked. The fourth pillar: Fasting the month of Ramadhaan. Verily Allaah has obligated upon the Muslims that they fast the month of Ramadhaan and the meaning of this is: Worshipping Allaah by abstaining from food, drink and sexual relatives from sunrise to sunset. The fifth pillar: Making pilgrimage to Allaah's sacred house, for whoever is able. Meaning that, one has the strength to complete the rituals of Hajj. And has wealth that would suffice the provision of his family, his journey to Makkah and return to his country. 22

The manner in which this act of worship is performed is well known to the Muslims, and whatever is unclear from that, can be asked to the scholars of Islaam. The proof of these pillars is the hadeeth of Ibnu 'Umar [may Allaah be pleased with them] in the two saheehs [Al Bukhaari and Muslim] that the prophet sallallaahu 'alayhi wa sallam said: ي ا ل س ل م ع ل خم س: ش ه اد ة أ ن ل إ ل ه إ ل اهلل و أ ن م م د ا ر س ول اهلل ض ا ن«و إ ق ا م الص ل ة و إ يت اء ال ز ك اة و ح ج ال ب ي ت و ص و م ر م Islaam has been built upon five [pillars]: Testifying that there is no deity worthy of worship except Allaah and that Muhammad is the messenger of Allaah, establishing the salaah [prayer], paying the zakah [alms], making hajj [pilgrimage to the house, and fasting in Ramadhaan.»ب ن As for the pillars of Eemaan [faith] they are six and are as follows: The first pillar: The belief in Allaah: The meaning of this is that one acknowledges and believes in the existence of Allaah and that he is the creator of the heavens and the Earth and that which is between them and that he is the creator of all things. And that he is the one who manages all affairs and nothing is acquired except by his will and his creation. And that he is the king of kings, everything is a possession of Allaah, the mighty and majestic and it is upon him to acknowledge and believe that Allaah is the true deity and whatever is worshipped besides him is worshipped in falsehood. And that to Allaah belong beautiful names and lofty attributes that he specified for himself or his messenger specified for him. Nothing from his creation is comparable to him. He the most high said: ٺ ٿ ٿٿ ٿ ٹ ٹ ]الشورى: ٧٧[ There is nothing like unto Him, and He is the All-Hearer, the All- Seer. [Ash Shuraa: 42:11]. The second pillar: The belief in His angels: It is obligatory upon the Muslim to believe that to Allaah belongs a creation created from light, they are called angels. Mankind cannot see them. They worship Allaah glorify him in the night and day and they never slacken to do so. They do not disobey Allaah in that which He commands them. Many from them have actions they are assigned to, they do those actions as Allaah has commanded them. He the most high said: 23

They speak not until He has spoken, and they act on His Command. He knows what is before them, and what is behind them, and they cannot intercede except for him with whom He is pleased. And they stand in awe for fear of Him. [Al Anbiyaa: 21: 26-28]. And he sallallaahu 'alayhi wa sallam said: «خ ل ق ت ال م ل ئ ك ة م ن ن ور» ]أ خ ر ج ه م س ل م ع ن ع ائ ش ة رضي اهلل عنها[ The angels were created from light [reported by Muslim on the authority of 'Aaisha may Allaah be pleased with her]. The third pillar: The belief in the books: This means that the Muslim acknowledges and believes that Allaah the mighty and majestic revealed books to his Messengers and they were from his speech [glorified and exalted is he] and not created. In these books are judgements, narrations, admonitions, reminders, guidance and mercy. From these books are: The Torah, which was revealed to Musa. The Injeel, [Gospel] which was revealed to Eesaa. The Zaboor, [Psalms] which was revealed to Dawood. May the peace and blessings of Allaah be upon them. All of these books have been distorted and changed, and what remains preserved from them is the noble Qur'aan, which was revealed to out prophet, Muhammad sallallaahu 'alayhi wa sallam. It will not be distorted or changed. The most high said: 24

Allaah the mighty and majestic said: ى ى ي ا ي ا ي ە ي ە ]اإلسراء: ٧٨[ And We never punish until We have sent a Messenger (to give warning). [Al-Israa:17:15]. And it is obligatory to believe that all the messengers of Allaah conveyed the message and gave people their due right and that Allaah established proofs upon the people by way of them. He the most high said: ڇ ڇ ڇ ڇ ڍ ڍ ڌ ڌ ڎ ڎ ڈ ]النساء: ٧١٨ ] Messengers as bearers of good news, as well as of warning in order that mankind should have no plea against Allah after the Messengers. [An-Nisaa:4:165]. The fifth pillar: The belief in the last day: And the meaning of this is that it is obligatory upon the Muslim that he believes and acknowledges the resurrection after death, the reckoning [on the day of Judgement], in paradise and hell and everything 25

that Allaah the mighty and majestic mentioned which will occur on the day of resurrection. Allaah the mighty and majestic said: ے ے ے ے ڭ ڭڭ ڭ ۇ ۇ ۆ ۆ ۈ ۈ ۇٴۋ ۋ ۅ ۅ ۉ ]التغابن: ١ [ The disbelievers pretend that they will never be resurrected (for the Account). Say (O Muhammad SAW): "Yes! [At- Taghaabun:64:7] It is obligatory to believe that the believer is deserving of paradise and that the disbeliever is deserving of the hell-fire. Allaah the most high said: ۋ ۅ ۅ ۉ ۉ ې ې ې ې ى ]الكهف: ٧٠١[ Verily! From the belief in the last day is that the believers will see their on the day of resurrection, and that they will see Him in paradise and they will find pleasure and enjoyment in that and they will not be given anything more beloved to them than seeing the face of their lord the mighty and majestic. He the most high said: پ ڀ ڀ *ڀ ٺ ٺ ]القيامة: ٢٣-٢٢ [ Some faces that Day shall be Nadirah (shining and radiant). Looking at their Lord (Allaah) [Al-Qiyaamah:75:22-23] 26

And He the most high said: ٻ ٻ ٻ ٻ ] ٢١ ]يونس: For those who have done good is the best (reward, i.e. Paradise) and even more (i.e. having the honour of glancing at the Countenance of Allah). [Yunus:10:26] And even more what is meant by this is looking at the face of Allaah the mighty and majestic as the messenger sallallaahu 'alayhi wa sallam explained. This look [at Allaah] will not occur in this worldly life because Allaah the might and majestic said: ٿ ٹ ٹ ٹ ٹ ڤ ]األنعام: ٧٠٣[ No vision can grasp Him, but His Grasp is over all vision. [Al-An'aam:6:103] The sight is not capable to see Allaah in this worldly life. The prophet sallallaahu 'alayhi wa sallam said:»ا ع ل م وا أ ن ك م ل ن ت ر وا ر ب ك م ع ز و ج ل ح ت ى ت وت وا«]ر و اه م س ل م ع ن ر ج ل م ن أ ص ح اب الن ب ص ل ى اهلل ع ل يه و س ل م[ Know that you will not see your lord the mighty and majestic until you die [reported by Muslim on the authority of a man from the companions of the prophet sallallaahu 'alayhi wa sallam]. The sixth pillar: The belief in the pre-decree, its good and its evil: The meaning of this is that the Muslim believes and acknowledges that Allaah the mighty and majestic knew everything that will happen from the good and evil and what He wanted to happen that way and then he wrote it in the 'lauh Al Mahfuz' [preserved tablet] 50,000 years before He created the heavens and the Earth. Then He willed for it and created it. Allaah the most high said: ڄ ڃ ڃ ڃ ڃ چ چ چ چ ڇ ڇ ڇ ڇ ڍ ڍ ڌ ]املائدة: ٧١ [ That you may know that Allah has knowledge of all that is in the heavens and all that is in the earth, and that Allah is the All- Knower of each and everything. [Al-Maa'idah:5:97] 27

And He the most high said: ے ے ے ڭ ڭ ڭ ڭ ۇ ۇ ۆ ۆ ۈ ۈ ۇٴ ۋ ۋۅ ۅ ۉ ۉ ې ې ]احلديد: ٢٢ [ No calamity befalls on the earth or in yourselves but is inscribed in the Book of Decrees (Al-Lauh Al-Mahfuz), before We bring it into existence. Verily, that is easy for Allaah. [Al-Hadid:57:22]. And it occurs in the saheeh of Imaam Muslim on the authority of Abdullah bin 'Amr bin Al 'Aas [may Allaah be pleased with him] that the prophet sallallaahu 'alayhi wa sallam said:»ك ت ب اهلل م ق اد ي ر ا ل ل ئ ق ق ب ل أ ن ي ل ق الس م و ات و ا ل ر ض ب خ م س ي أ ل» و ك ان ع ر ش ه ع ل ال م ء س ن ة ف Allaah measured the amount of sustenance of the creatures fifty thousand years before He created the heavens and the earth and His throne was above water. And He the most high said: ي و ي و ي ۇ ي ۇ ي ۆ ي ۆ ي ۈ ي ۈ [التكوير: ٢٧] And you will not, unless (it be) that Allah wills, the Lord of the 'Alamin (mankind, jinns and all that exists). [At-Takwir:81:29] And He the most high said: ي ا ي ا ي ە ي ە ي و ي و ي ۇ ي ۇ ي ۆ ي ۆ سي] : ]٥٢ Verily, His Command, when He intends a thing, is only that He says to it, "Be!" and it is! [Ya-sin:36:82] And as we mentioned earlier it is obligatory upon all of mankind to act upon the religion of Islaam, for indeed Allaah the most high said: ڦ ڦ ڦ ڄ ڄ ڄ ڄ ڃ ڃ ڃ ڃ چ چ ]آل عمران: ٥٨[ 28

And whoever seeks a religion other than Islam, it will never be accepted of him, and in the Hereafter he will be one of the losers. [Aali 'Imraan:3:85] And as for His saying, the most high: ی ي ج ي ح ي مي ى ي ي بج بح بخ بم ]البقرة: ٢٨١[ There is no compulsion in religion. Verily, the Right Path has become distinct from the wrong path. [Al-Baqarah:2:256] What is intended by this verse is that one's acceptance of Islaam is only accepted if he embraces it upon his choice, and the Islaam of someone who embraces it through compulsion is not correct. And it is not intended by this verse that the disbelievers are not fought against until they embrace Islaam, for indeed the prophet sallallaahu 'alayhi wa sallam the disbelievers, the polytheists, the Jews and the Christians until they embraced Islaam or paid the Jizyah [a tax paid by the non- Muslims living around the prophet sallallaahu 'alayhi wa sallam and the believers] with willing submission and feel themselves subdued. The most high said: چ ڇ ڇ ڇ ڇ ڍ ڍ ڌ ڌ ڎ ڎ ڈ ڈ ژ ژ ڑ ڑ ک ک ک ک گ گ گ گ ڳ ڳ ڳ ڳ ]التوبة: ٢٧[ Fight against those who (1) believe not in Allah, (2) nor in the Last Day, (3) nor forbid that which has been forbidden by Allah and His Messenger (4) and those who acknowledge not the religion of truth (i.e. Islam) among the people of the Scripture (Jews and Christians), until they pay the Jizyah with willing submission, and feel themselves subdued. [At-Tawbah:9:29] And the prophet sallallaahu 'alayhi wa sallam said:»أ مر ت أ ن أ قات ل الن ا س ح ت ى ي ش ه د وا أ ن ل إ ل ه إ ل اهلل و أ ن م م د ا ر س و ل اهلل و ي ق يم وا ال ص ل ة و ي ؤ ت وا الز كا ة ف إ ذ ا ف ع لوا ذ ل ك ل اهلل ع ص م وا م ن ى د م اء ه م و أ م و ا له م إ ل ب ح ق ها و حس ا ب م ع 29
